the ohmgrown series is about more music and less industry. its dub phizix way of getting his ideas to people in the fastest way possible. the entire process- sound design, writing, mixing, mastering will be done in-house by dub phizix, as are the visual elements to accompany the music. there will be no set sound or aesthetic to the series instead the focus is on giving people a window into where he’s at musically and what is inspiring him at the time of creation.

perc trax slips out its first cheeky white label in over two years, pulling together two secret weapons from perc’s sets this year. first off perc trax newcomer tymon rips into perc’s own “hyperlink” giving it a shot of adrenalin which has been eating festivals alive all summer.

shaw cuts is happy to welcome a new face to the label squad: lazarus, a young producer from nuremberg, yields the perfect soundtrack for ‚the magic blade‘ with his debut record. the story begins with another clash between arch-rivals fu hung hsueh and yen-nan fei, two of the country’s most skilled swordsmen, both on a quest to number one. ‚rhea’ sets the perfect tempo for the duel with its heavyweight drums, revolving percussion and energetic pads. clanking swords are interrupted by the arrival of shady company – followers of the mysterious underworld swayer sent by master yu who wants yen-nan fei’s head. fu hung hsueh and yen-nan fei join forces, slaying the villains in seconds. ‚reverof nema‘ rolls in, its commanding rhythm and moody chords giving the swordsmen new force and vitality. yu wants to eliminate the swordsmen so that they never gain possession of the peacock-dart, an indestructible weapon with thanatophoric effects and the object of yu’s desires. but fu hung hsueh and yen-nan fei have already picked up the scent. bloody battles follow against more of yu’s entourage. the race against time is led by the energetic synth delirium and savage drums of ‚casio flex‘, leading hsueh and fei safely to the sublime weapon. the duo journey on, defending the peacock-dart until they reach yu’s temple. the final showdown. ‚overcome’ and its warped groove, warm synths and thundering drums bring master yu to his knees and the netherworld. but who was master yu? was it you? the myth lives on…

seb zitos seven dials imprint serves up its third offering with jamie trench & khalil anthony continuing to champion the early garage flavours that the label is fast becoming known for. what was missing transports you back to the 90s with that ukg groove, bumping sub bass goodness and kahlil s gritty vocals. the dub mix leaves only a small portion of the vocals in the mix, chopping them todd the god style and giving the shuffling garage rhythm more room to breathe. on the b side label head, seb zito, switches things into peak-time roller territory, dampening the kick whilst putting more emphasis on the hats, dubbing out vocal snippets, adding acid flurries and throwing in an epic echoed breakdown. all three mixes make a clear nod to the past, whilst firmly setting themselves in the present gold again from seven dials.

after making a promising start with their first installment, disco pocho return with a second round of expertly selected, sliced and segued groovers from the parties of yesteryear. javi frias is the cat on the buttons this time around, taking two loose and limber disco funk burners and giving them just the right subtle touch to set the place alight. its a shame has an easy tempo, but there s more than enough heat embedded in the looped up slices frias gets busy with it s a dense, rugged and rock-tinged sound that should please brass construction fans. on the flip, you got what i need turns things up with a powerful, diva-led gem that s heavy on the one, just like it should be.

reworking a big tune is never a simple task, especially if after 7 years the tune in question is still one of the highlights in shows of one of the worlds most beloved live act performers, kink. that s only half of the story though, as the tune got a lot of love from so many dj s all over the globe. however, for the 17th burek release, we wanted to do something really special and what could be better than giving new life to a piece of music which literally gave life to our label. and we gathered some very interesting people for the job.

afro was our first international release, and our first attempt to bring afro-peruvian music up to date in the same way as nicomedes santa cruz and others did decades ago when the fragile existence of this music was fading. we were very satisfied with the result, which is raw and acoustic but at the same time electronic. dark but soulful. deep and haunting at times. we are joined on this album by some of the finest afro-peruvian musicians on cajon, guitar and vocals giving every song a live feel and the album includes additional production on all tracks by nitin sawhney s and da lata s studio wizard toni economides.

following on from transmissions by gauss, sota and faune, ornate music is proud to welcome hotly tipped birmingham talent jayson wynters to the fold. wynters has already made a strong impression via releases on mr gs phoenix g label and dont be afraid, and now he serves up two original tracks that further shape out his deeply hypnotic approach to house music. alongside the immersive allure of wynters originals, rising talent caldera offers up a stripped back, meditative broken beat remix of ancient tones fresh from his appearance on wncl recordings late last year. the latitude ep is a natural fit for ornate, giving wynters and caldera free reign to show off their uniquely mesmerizing styles of contemporary house and techno.

opening track in the b kicks off proceedings in no uncertain fashion. it s 100% wall shaker material, the type of techno music best paired with strobe lights and towering speaker stacks. it mesmerises with its low-slung undulating bassline and detroit rhythms before giving way to some riotous old school essex stabs and sharp claps. no messing, this is a certified 3 am red light burner! track 2 chocolate biscuit accelerates proceedings! beginning with unfussy drums and a robotic, bleep-heavy melody driving it off into a wonderfully off-kilter direction. its arpreggio d rhythms may be brutish and wrestle a growling sense of menace out of the track, but the overall feel, however, suggests considerable care and attention has been paid to make it sound this way. there s clearly an uncommon musicality at play here to make something this complex feel so simple. the bpm drops next on jenny s hall but from the offset, there s enough funk and thrust in the motorised synth line to get bodies gently grooving without the beauty getting lost in the slower loop. this is blissed out, psychotropic techno - the kind of track where it feels like you re floating and falling at the same time, but all the while making sure you still remain fit for purpose on the dancefloor. ian blevins takes on remix duties this time and the berlin-based dj/producer offers up a sleek peak-time banger that fizzes, bubbles and percolates. he gives the rhythm on jenny s hall less space to swing and ties it to a tight motorik beat turning it into a slice of shiny, modern techno but with extra shoulder-checking force. its vibe drawing from a sense of outsider-party fun with a wry smile, and a knowing wink running throughout before bringing the package to a suitably left of field crescendo.

more leftfield techno sounds from one of the scenes more unassuming producers, a sagittariun delivers a new single stamped with his trademark sound aesthetic. the ‘fahrenheit 451 ep brings together three new productions in lieu of a new album coming later in the year. the golden apple brings together brain scrambling drums, a heavy hoover bassline, and a typically sagi style wormhole riff, whilst blue lotus throws tropical shapes around the broken beats that flourish into a rapid 4/4 stomper, with scattering hats and equatorial ambience giving a unique vibe. a sagittariun strays into disco territory on liebe tanzen, flitting between modern intergalactic synth riffs & basslines, and sampled disco drums. hand stamped 12 vinyl, limited to 150 copies - global pr and marketing campaign from hype filter re-moulded, 25 years after it was produced, for release on his elastic dreams label.

coming back for another round after his first ep for figure last summer, shlomi aber continues to explore different avenues of his multi-faceted sound, tying it all up in a nicely rounded package. setting the pace is driving opening track whistler, the producer showcasing his ability to craft something big but undoubtedly refined. he then lets old school drums cruise along gentle sways of washed out ambience, giving the deep heads something to really get into… back with more techno on the b-side, this time in true figure-style: lean, sharp, and utterly effective penetrate the system is sure to leave its mark and comes complete with an extended, separate intro, making for quite an experience. staying atmospheric to the end, aber chooses to step out in half-time, taking cues from dubstep as hollowed kicks carve out an endless tunnel that leads only ever deeper down the rabbit hole.

“he bleeds stories ep” is the first vinyl release on vraaa records, a techno label with the aim of queering-up the genre. both original tracks contains elements from projekt gestalten’s past original productions clashing with new sounds and being incorporated into a whole new context, like pieces of different stories scattered throughout the music and reconfigured into a brand new tale. each track was remixed by projects with contrasting gender identities: the heavyweight techno duo i/y, representing the masculine side and the fabulous german selector anja zaube, giving a feminine perspective. pressing on pink & black mixed vinyl.

left hand path is proud to present its fourth release - ice pick, a beautifully aggressive four track techno ep from bay area troublemaker michael claus. following acclaimed releases on jacktone and 100% silk and his unforgettable remix on our last record by nackt, ice pick plays with (and against) modern movements in underground techno to satisfying effect. while michael s previous releases featured a gorgeous dub-infused atmosphere, ice pick steps towards a more militant sound. its eponymous title track is described perfectly by its name - a lethal rhythmically compelling club track primed for the peak of a late-night dj set. for each has the listener ascending an endless staircase of arpeggios, chased by raw electro beats. hexes is introspective, reinforcing michael’s talent for writing sublime melodic hooks. the record’s closer acid 46 is a bonafide dance floor stomper built around an undulating, coruscating acid riff, giving it a kaleidoscopic bay area twist.

fragrant harbour once again dig out a cult gem from the seemingly endless vaults of 90s dance music, picking up on a rare and precious gem from a seminal laurent garnier mix and giving it the remaster and reissue it deserves. the artists responsible, broccoli brothers vs righteous men, hailed from germany and were trying to emulate mike dunn. -catch it (calm manoeuvre)- is a spaced out deep house track with all the gritty impact of a classic jam, while -catch it (jam)- gets decidedly rowdy with its hefty kick, jacked up swing and wonky bassline. on the b side -ruhrschnellweg (last exit stahlhausen mix)- brings a little detroit flavour into the mix with spectacular, uplifting results.

farron gets back on shaw cuts with his fourth record, invincible shaolin a tale of double-dealing, rivalry, royalty and bad blood. manchu general pus evil quest to eradicate the shaolin tradition unfolds, cunningly pitting north and south shaolins against each other. spring break ya neck opens the clash with its rhythmic shifts and whirling synth pads. the northern masters prevail. after pus henchmen secretly kill the southern shaolin, the general blames the masters from the north, unleashing chaos. cosmicaph restores order, its pounding drums and floating melodies giving new strength to the southern shaolin. revenge must be taken. to prepare for conquer, the southern master sends three of his disciples to three masters to learn their secret weapons. sir hatch sets the pace with rolling punches, dirty synths and sharp percussion as the three disciples transform into lethal fighting machines. just before the final encounter between the shaolin, leibniz lands on the scene with his fresh interpretation of spring break ya neck, revealing to both schools that they have been deceived. joining forces, north and south battle the general and his men, led by leibnizs funky drum patterns and turbulent synth action. and the shaolin spirit lives on

part two of the ep features the motor city drum ensemble remix, and the original “in a silent mix” version from 1999, a track out of its time when released on allen’s sole record “black voices”. a long serving dekmantel veteran, danilo plessow was there from the start. after compiling the first selector’s compilation last year, mcde turns tony allen’s masterpiece in a jam, with added house beats, giving the funk number the edit treatment. the final mix sounds like the kind of track you would hear mcde play in one of his sets as he’s firing up the heat. the organ sounds and trumpets are left high in the mix, to create an unforgettable hook that resonates throughout, in complete motor city style.

yoruba records is ecstatic to welcome back hallex m with our latest release, the oggun ep. kicking off with the title track, carlos mena lends his voice to give praise to oggun, the warrior-protector orisha, in this low end heavy and celebratory groove. slowing things down a bit,lhasa is a more subtle and relaxing cut, teasing you with a beautiful piano melody and funky bassline. nickodemus gets to work with his remix of the title track oggun. giving this a treatment with a thick and stubby bass, this mix takes things to a deeper territory appreciated by discerning dancefloors. we round out the ep with show you the world, a laid-back love song featuring the warm and inviting vocals of gabriele poso. once again hallex shows his prowess in crafting emotionally intelligent dancefloor tunes, we hope you enjoy these as much as we have enjoyed bringing them to you!
